Once again, a long time between posts.

It's been over a year.  I've been on the road a lot, both for work and taking vacations when I can.  Since I have a week off in between the long stretches that I work, I decided to take advantage of them.  Where have I gone, the U.P. on a short trip by myself, Arkansas several times to visit family, Florida to see my sister and one more trip to Florida to the Gulf side is coming up in November.

Caitlin is out of the house now living in Kalamazoo in an apartment with her friend Courtney.  Its wonderful to see the changes in maturity with her.  Its really true what people say that they really do grow up!

Reunited

Back in May I was fortunate to be reunited at work with another of my former Bronson Hospital co-workers, Wendy Albertson. She had left Bronson in 2007 after she finished school to be an NNP and gone to work at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. The beginning of May she came to work at Holden NICU at the University of Michigan.

Its been so nice to be working with Wendy again. So the three of us, Wendy, Stacey and me are now at the U part of the Michigan Difference!

Its Been a Long Time

The time has flown by this year. Its been so long since I last posted anything that its gone from snow outside to August and 90 degrees.

In the 7 months since I last wrote not a lot has gone on. I have been to Wiseman, AR three times since May. Wiseman is just a post office and nothing more. Two of my three stepkids and their families now live there. Rachel graduated from high school and that was my first trip down there, for her graduation. Then 3 weeks later Tom and I went down for a week for vacation. Yesterday I made the trip down solo, just for a couple of days, then I'm heading for Tennessee to stop and see old friends in three different cities. Is it a lot of driving, yes. But hopefully it will be worth it. I have to be back home by Tuesday because its Caitlin's 19th birthday.

Tom found out the end of June that his left carotid artery to his head was 95% blocked. On July 15th he had surgery to remove the blockage and was only in the hospital for 30 hours. His recovery has been uneventful which is exactly what we like.

My big obsession is Facebook these days and that's why I rarely blog anymore. I'm constantly updating people with my life and times on Facebook.

Isn't it spring yet?

Yes I know. This is Michigan and its still only February. Snow happens. Problem was 2 weeks ago it was 60 degrees out. When I went to bed last night there was about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Imagine my shock when I got up this morning and went to take the dog out and discovered that we'd gotten about a foot of snow overnight. It was very light and fluffy but still it was a 14 inches deep. Cars in the driveway didn't really look like cars anymore, just mounds of snow.

At least can we have some sun and blue sky? That helps ease the pain.

Life goes on....

Long time since I've written. No excuses, I've been addicted to Facebook and therefore, haven't written here. The only thing changing seems to be the weather around here, and that happens on a minute by minute basis.

After working for 4 days I had the 'pleasure' of returning home last night. What is normally a 1 hr. and 45 minute drive turned into a 3 hour ordeal. Mother nature has been a real joker so far this winter. Dump a lot of snow, dump a lot of rain, more snow, uh oh already did that, let's try some freezing rain this time. And how about it starts right before a certain someone has to drive the 105 miles home. Yep, I-94 was transformed into skating rink for motor vehicles. I narrowly avoided 4 cars, at different times, that slid, spun or collided with things. I made it home in one piece which was an accomplishment of its own. All in all, it was a good decision to stay on I-94 and 131. At least those had been salted. Of course not in Washtenaw County, I truly believe that they are showing displeasure toward motor vehicles by lack of snow and ice removal in the winter. But enough of that.

I'm now the proud owner of a photo of myself with 2 of my favorite people, and a 'photo bomber'. Stacey and I have wanted to get an updated picture of the 2 of us at Holden working. So above is the 'bomber, Stacey, myself and Rachel. The bomber in the back is the wonderful father of a baby that is the primary patient of Rachel and me. He shares a similar sense of humor that helps save my sanity. So you all know, you can have a good time at work! And it can include the parents. Helps save their sanity too.

I think these guys need to start hiding a little more than they have been. Its a little over a month before Thanksgiving and people might be thinking about that big dinner.

Me, I'm thinking about all the money I'm going to be making since I have to work Thanksgiving and the day after, which is all holiday pay at the U. Maybe I'll be able to get caught up on bills and get some in the bank for Christmas.

The days are getting shorter and the leaves are finally changing. Despite the predictions that fall color wouldn't be much this year, it seems the colors are brilliant. I'm hoping for a sunny day soon so I can get some pictures. The reds and oranges of the maples are gorgeous and hopefully the rain hasn't knocked down too many of the leaves. Maybe tomorrow the sun will shine.






The sun came out and I went out to the Langley Covered Bridge instead of looking for photogenic leaves. The bridge is down to a skeleton, barges under the steel, roof off, and the river has been dropped to accomplish the task. It sure looks strange. I'm not sure how deconstructing and reconstructing the bridge influences its historic value. But it is used for traffic so it needs to be safe.
